Creation, organization and management of the Department of Software and IT Engineering. This is the first department created at ETS in twenty years. Noteworthy:

  • Recruiting and hiring professors and personnel. Establishing operating processes. Resources procurement.
  • Elaborating a strategic vision for the department. Deploying the vision.
  • Managing the two undergraduate programs of the department: Software Engineering and IT Engineering.
  • Promoting the department to CEGEPs, industry and in national and international forums.

Took on various positions in Bell IT department. Managed with his team the deployment and/or operation of the following for about 25 000 users: E-mail, PC, PC evergreenning, PC management system (Tivoli), Server Farms, IT Asset Management, Directory Services, Document Management System, Intranet Portal infrastructure, DMZ management. Key accomplishments include :

  • Managed a large project and operation portfolio that included the deployment of about 25 000 PCs.
  • Built an infrastructure management team.
  • Designed and implemented with his team an improvement program based on the Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model (CMM). Major restructuring of the team.
  • Designed with his team an Enterprise Architecture management process based on the META Group process.

General Manager – IT Procurement and Quality Engineering

Built staff and managed an IT Procurement organization for Bell Canada. Key accomplishments include :

  • Consolidation of PC and Server purchase and provisioning.
  • Participated in the elaboration and negotiation of two outsourcing contracts for respectively Data Center Services and System development, maintenance and PC support services. These two contracts were in the order of  one and three billions dollars respectively.

Director – Year 2K Quality Assurance

Responsible for the Quality Assurance of the Year 2000 program of Bell Canada. Scope included the Voice and Data Networks as well as the IS and IT environment. This was an additional responsibility to those described previously.
